ABOUT THIS CONTEST

We all know that the world will end in 2012, which is a kind of a bummer, but a lot of folks are curious about what exactly will cause the end of the world. We know how Roland Emmerich thinks it will happen, but is he right? How do you think it will it all go down?

Will it be natural disasters, like floods, earthquakes, storms, or volcanos?

Will it be plagues, locusts, and famine?

Will it be another season of Keeping Up with The Kardashians?

Will it be that little thing that you were upset about that somebody said to you, "Hey relax, it's not the end of the world."

But what if it is!?!

YOUR MISSION

Create a video, up to 90 seconds in length, that depicts your version of how the world will end. You can make a complete narrative, or a movie trailer that depicts your theory.

Even though you have 90 seconds, you are not required to use it all. If your story can be told in 5 seconds, that's a perfectly acceptable length. In fact, shorter might be better. If it's too long, the world might end before people get a chance to see the whole video.

Feel free to be inspired by different styles of film, or by a director you admire. Is it an "indie" end of the world movie? Is it film noir? What would a Robert Altman disaster movie look like? What about Wes Anderson? Pick your favorite director or style to emulate and have fun with it. Or, if you choose, don't emulate anybody, because we know you're plenty talented and stylish on your own!

Some things to note when making your video:

• Must be under 90 seconds
• Original music composed for the film is encouraged!
• You must have fun while making the film. If the world is ending, you might as well have fun depicting it. If we discover that the process of making the film wasn't a good time, you may be disqualified*
• Don't advertise anything. This is just for fun!
• The earlier you submit, the more chance your video has to be seen before the end of the world. If you submit after the world ends, you may look foolish because people will see your prediction was wrong.
• Remember that the world may go out with a whimper, not with a bang. Don't feel pressure to make an action packed special effects extravaganza. All interpretations of world ending are welcome.

*we won't actually disqualify you if it was a miserable process. But we'll feel sorry for you.

AWARDS

Winners will be chosen by the Zooppa Staff, and will be judged on the below very strict criteria, broken down into percentages:

• Which videos do we like the most? (100%)

There will also be one video chosen by the Zooppa Community through voting. We encourage voters to actually watch all the videos in this contest and vote for the one they like the best. If you want to ask friends to sign up and vote, that's great, but encourage them to look at all the submissions, and don't feel bad if they think somebody is better than you and vote for them. It's not the end of the word... or is it?!??

In addition to the cash prizes, the 1st place winner will also be interviewed and featured in our blog, have his/her video featured on the front page of the Zooppa website, and be highlighted in Zooppa's press releases! We'll try and get as many people as possible watching your work! Even though there's not a lot of cash involved, (you wouldn't have time to spend it anyway,) there is the potential for a lot of publicity for your work.

For the End of the World contest, Zooppa is making 11 original high quality songs available for use, at $1.99 each. You don't have to use this music, but it's available for commercial use for $1.99 if you want it.

When you complete the purchase of the song, you will receive an email receipt with a license number for the song you purchased. You must put this license number in the description field for your End of the World video

These particular 11 Friendly Music songs are available for use in the Zooppa End of the World contest only. You may not use other Friendly Music songs for the End of the World contest, and you many not use these 11 songs for any other contest. It is only through a partnership between Friendly Music and Zooppa that these 11 songs are available for commercial use, so using other songs, or using them for any other contest may not be lawful.
